About the Kshetram
Located in the Jagtial district of Telangana, Dharmapuri is an ancient pilgrimage site situated on the banks of the holy River Godavari, which uniquely flows here as Dakshinavahini (southward flowing). As one of India’s Nava Narasimha Kshetrams (nine major Narasimha shrines), this sacred land is a symbol of the rare Hari-Hara harmony between Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions. Having received the patronage of dynasties like the Chalukyas and Rashtrakutas, the town flourished as a premier center for Vedic studies, literature, and fine arts. Vibrant with spiritual energy, this holy land will host the next Godavari Pushkarams in 2027.
